When water damages your Nashua basement, you need the team at SERVPRO.

Drying And Waterproofing Wet Basements In Nashua

Nashua basements usually have two uses; as an extra living area or storage for holiday decorations. It serves well for homeowners until they pull out the table decoration shaped like a turkey and discover water leaking in from the outside.

When water damages your Nashua basement, you need the team at SERVPRO. Because removing water does not solve the underlying problem. Our restoration teams understand that a permanent solution requires drying out this part of your home and stopping the source of the water from causing further problems.

After our technicians pump out the water, they set up dehumidifiers to draw moisture from the air and lower the humidity to comfortable levels. As the devices work, one of our inspectors examine the walls for leaks and seeps. While we can stop one or two minor seeps with a small amount of effort, others eventually form and cause more problems.

The only permanent solutions to a wet basement are to encapsulate the interior and waterproof the outside walls and foundation. SERVPRO specialists start inside and fill every seep and larger crack with hydraulic cement to form a barrier to more leaks. Our experts will then coat all basement walls with masonry cement which is waterproof once it dries. It cements together to form an excellent seal against further water intrusion.

If the floor is dirt, we encapsulate the floor by installing a vapor barrier. Technicians cover it with polyethylene sheets and reinforce them with a polyester mesh. They use large enough sheets so that the ends can go up and cover several inches of the basement walls. To prevent moisture bleeding up from the floor, technicians seal the sheets and mesh to the wall with either polyurethane caulk or two-sided, foundation tape. Encapsulation is low-cost and recommended for unfinished basements or crawlspaces.

As team members finish sealing off the interior, others begin work outside. They dig out and clean the foundation walls, then apply liquid rubber in a very thick layer. Once dry, the seal protects against severe weather and does not crack unless the home itself shifts or a large enough force damages the foundation.

Drying your basement can take several days or longer to complete the task. Stopping further water damage takes additional work, but SERVPRO of Nashua can accomplish everything you need to return your property to pre-damage condition. Call us today at (603) 889-2311 to get started.
