Asbestos Testing in Nashua? SERVPRO Says It Is a Wise Decision

SERVPRO Follows the Law with Asbestos Sampling Prior to Demolition or Renovation Services for Our Nashua Customers

What is the big deal about asbestos? This fibrous mineral when disrupted from its setting can cause lung cancer and the dreaded mesothelioma. Lawyers may benefit from class action cases, but our job is to prevent the spreading of the potentially cancer-causing materials.

SERVPRO takes the inherent dangers and hazards very seriously from asbestos. Our technicians, when requested to deconstruct or renovate homes must establish the year the structure was erected. Before 1985, asbestos in Nashua homes had many uses. Since it was an inexpensive fire-retardant and thermal and acoustical insulator, it was found in many homes for different reasons. Floor tiles, roof shingles, ceiling tiles, pipe cement, joint compound, and thermal insulation for boiler, and even textured paint were some of its uses. But the party ended with the discovery of the health hazards associated with this fibrous mineral.

Our main goal is to ensure the safety of our customers and technicians as well during our work. By law, from that 1985 date and earlier built dwellings, we must make sure an Asbestos Sampling is performed by an outside, certified company.  We do not do this to upset our customers or annoy them, but instead, make sure our customers can be healthy and safe in the working environment. Asbestos contains the mineral Chrysotile that becomes fibers when woven together. When these fibers become airborne and are inhaled or ingested, asbestos can be very harmful and dangerous.

If the sampling comes back negative, the technicians can go forward with the project and start the selective demolition or renovation knowing the well-being of the residents and our workers are secure from this mineral and its consequences. If the sampling comes back positive, SERVPRO will refer our customers to another company that is approved by insurance who can correctly contain the asbestos, so it does not spread through the air. This sampling may take several days to receive the results. During that period we do no work, this is the law.

It is essential for our customers to understand this process before the technicians show up for work. Knowing information before going into a scenario is always vital so they know what they can expect. We wanted to let you know this information first and foremost, so there are no problems in the future regarding this regulation.

SERVPRO of Nashua takes pride in our work and always strives for the safety of our customers and our technicians, we obey the law and strive to meet and beat your expectations. Ready to help 24/7 by calling us at (603) 889-2311.

Nashua Animal Feces Cleanup in Your Attic

SERVPRO Scares Away Critters and Cleans Up Your Nashua Attic

SERVPRO Restores Your Home to a Safe Condition After a Biohazard Cleanup

An animal infestation (bats, rats, and raccoons for example) is unhealthy, damaging to your home and leads to further problems. Animal waste contains pheromones; these scents attract other, sometimes larger, animals to the infestation. This next wave brings more disease and physical danger to every resident.

Removing the threats from biohazardous animal feces to your Nashua home requires more than a simple cleanup crew. SERVPRO has over twenty years of experience in New Hampshire restoring homes to a clean, livable condition. Our technicians treat each infestation as a biohazard and take every step necessary to eliminate the threat to your home and health.

We start with an inspection. Our team does not only visually examine your home, but also uses air testing equipment to check air contamination levels. In every case, our people begin the job wearing masks and sometimes protective clothing and shoes. If the contamination level is very high, we need to start clearing the air immediately.

To do this, we establish negative air pressure in the home. By placing fans and air movers at key points in the structure, we force the contaminated air outside. Exchanging the air provides a safer environment and begins to reduce the odor which can cause eye and nose irritation to anyone in the home. If the infestation is this severe, we do not recommend that the homeowner enters the house until the air content tests at a safer level.

As we clean the air, we begin work to remove the feces. Removal includes not only shoveling out the obvious waste but also clearing the attic and other areas in the home of contaminated insulation, drywall and even crossbeams and other support structure that were compromised by the infestation. By starting in the attic, we can also determine where urine and other waste has leaked into the house, contaminating more rooms.

Where possible, we try to prevent cutting into walls and ceilings. If there is no solid waste to remove, our technicians either spray the area or use a fogger with an anti-microbial or biocide agent. When we do have to pull down building material, we dispose of it and all animal waste per state and federal regulations.

Returning your home to a livable state is not a quick or easy task. At SERVPRO of Nashua, we understand that each job is not just a building, it is where our neighbors live and raise their families. If you need us, call us today at (603) 889-2311 to begin.

Nashua Animal Feces Cleanup Is a Biohazardous Task

Biohazardous Cleanup of Animal Feces in Nashua Safely Done by SERVPRO

Rely on SERVPRO for Cleaning and Sanitizing After Animal Waste Removal

Any community near an undeveloped area deals with raccoons and other wild or undomesticated animals. Even small creatures such as field mice can cause hundreds or thousands of dollars in damage and restoration fees.

Despite Nashua’s size and urban environment, wild animal feces cleanup is still a problem. Creatures in the surrounding woods find their way into garages and attics; then go unnoticed for weeks and months. Even then, it is the feces odor that most people notice. Sometimes, it is simply the noise in the attic. When it gets to this point, a professional service is needed; SERPVRO has the personnel, experience, and equipment to protect residents and property.

Raccoon droppings contain parasites like roundworm. This infection is less a danger to people than family pets, but the veterinarian costs add up quickly. Rodent feces often contain the Hantavirus, which causes muscle aches, chills and lung damage when the disease fills them with fluid. Bird and bat droppings carry respiratory infections such as Histoplasmosis which has similar symptoms to the Hantavirus. These biohazardous droppings should be cleaned up and the affected areas disinfected.

The feces found in garages is usually mouse or raccoon. There are corners and cavities behind shelves, cabinets, and items in storage where they can hide. Even worse, mice can chew their way through drywall and find their way into the insulation which is a perfect nesting material. It takes only a few weeks before the insulation is so damaged that heating and cooling bills may go up. We recommend that any food stored in a garage needs to be in a sealed container or a storage unit like a drop freezer or a refrigerator to avoid attracting pests.

Attics can host multiple species. Birds find their way under a roof through various points such as a damaged vent screen. Mice and raccoons mark territory that serves as a bathroom, but birds drop waste throughout the space. As with the walls, insulation becomes compacted by the urine and solid waste which destroys its effectiveness.

For both locations, we send in our SERVPRO restoration team to first determine the entry points and close them except for one exit. The next step is to remove all damaged insulation and nests. We must note that we do not trap any trespassers, that is up to a pest control company. Before replacing the insulation, we spray the affected areas with cleaners and anti-fungal agents to ensure a healthy environment. If drywall and other building materials are damaged, we remove and replace that as well.

SERVPRO of Nashua provides the biohazardous efforts needed to rid your home or business of animal waste and decontamination. Call us at (603) 889-2311 for a fast response.
